Tom Willingham, known by his clients as “The Operations Paratrooper”, is the President and Founder of The Hampton Group, an operations and management consulting firm he launched in 2003 to help middle market companies across Southern California achieve superior performance and lasting results.
Like a paratrooper dropping into complex environments, Tom thrives on entering organizations that need rapid stabilization, process clarity, and execution discipline. He quickly assesses challenges across People, Processes, and Strategy, then partners with leadership teams to restore operational focus and accelerate financial results. Acting as a “Chief Execution Officer,” Tom helps bridge the gap between strategic planning and real-world performance.
With a unique blend of engineering precision and financial acumen, Tom’s background includes leadership roles as Plant Manager, Controller, General Manager, VP Operations and Consultant with Deloitte & Touche. His client base spans industries from healthcare, manufacturing, services, and non-profit organizations —each benefiting from his pragmatic approach to improvement.
A former collegiate swimmer and triathlete, Tom brings a competitor’s mindset to business improvement—continuously striving for measurable results and operational excellence. Over his career, he has partnered with more than 100 facilities and thousands of employees, applying Lean Six Sigma principles and leading Rapid Improvement Workshops that uncover low- or no-cost solutions to eliminate waste and enhance productivity.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Tom earned his MBA in Finance and Consulting and MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois.
