Applying Lean Six Sigma Concept to Human Resources
April 26, 2010 SEAL BEACH, CA – The Hampton Group announced today it has signed a distributor agreement with View Assessments, Inc. of Richmond, B.C., allowing Southern California organizations greater access to the powerful Prevue Assessment that enables companies to improve hiring quality by increasing success rate and reducing turnover.
Lean enterprises focus on speed, efficiency and eliminating waste from processes to improve flow. Six Sigma tools promote data driven decision making to drive defects out of a process. Together they provide people with tools and skills to ensure an efficient and quality process.
Firm President Tom Willingham said, “We teach our Manufacturing clients to expose bottlenecks and hidden problems by reducing inventory levels using the analogy of lowering the level of water in a lake and exposing the rocks. The concept applies to the hiring and talent management process as well. People are like icebergs. Collecting data typically not volunteered by candidates uncovers their hidden abilities, interests and personality and can exclude candidates that don’t fit before they are placed in a position.”
Willingham continued, “Organizations have spent the last eighteen months cutting costs and paring back staff…they can’t afford any hiring mistakes as the economy rebounds and they rebuild. The current high level of unemployment has placed outstanding talent on the bench and managers need a solid process to fit the right talent into the right job and create top performers. Used appropriately, this tool is a high return on investment and time for management teams.”
The process begins with managers developing a benchmark of business-related personality traits for the position. Unlike many popular assessments often used for team building exercises, Prevue is the only assessment that then measures Learning Speed, Interests, and Personality together and presents the “Total Person” compared to the benchmark. Because of Prevue’s high validity based on the general working population and its reliability, results can be used over a period of time for coaching and succession planning.
“Prevue is a great compliment to our Operational Excellence and Execution Management Services,” Willingham said.
“View Assessments, Inc. is very happy to welcome The Hampton Group and Tom Willingham as an authorized Distributor of Prevue Assessments,” said Ken Muir, President of View Assessments, Inc.
“Tom brings a wealth of knowledge in helping companies with a wide range of business products and services, including our Prevue products. So we were very pleased when Tom decided to formalize our relationship by becoming the latest member of the world-wide Distributor network of Prevue Assessment specialists,” added Muir.
The cornerstone of its products, the Prevue Assessment was developed exclusively for View Assessments in the early 1990’s under the direction of Dr. David Bartram. The Prevue Assessment also meets or exceeds the strict U.S. Department of Labor 1999 guidelines for Testing and Assessment.
